UnblockMe (CSF/cPanel Unblocker) Addon

Recommended Posts

Description

This module will allow your clients to unblock themselves from CSF if they happen to exceed the failed login threshhold on their hosting account. Unlike other modules designed created for this task, this one requires virtually NO CONFIGURATION. Simply upload the included files and add the smarty tag to your clientareaproductdetails template.

Installation

1) Copy all files into your whmcs installation directory

2) Add the following code somewhere within your sites "clientareaproductdetails.tpl" file.

<div align="center">{$unblockme}</div>

I recommend adding this code directly below the {$moduleclientarea} line.

3) Thats it!

Additional Information

- This addon will only work with cPanel servers, with the CSF cPanel plugin installed.

- It will not remove temporary blocks. (this is by design)

Support

Direct email support will be provided on an as-needed basis. Updates/bug fixes will be provided

free of charge to all purchasers for the duration of the product lifetime.

The lifecycle of this product may be terminated at any time, at which point all existing support

obligations will be null and void.

Cost

The cost for this module is $30, which includes unlimited updates and support.

You can purchase the module from the following link:

Yes, the module is encoded.

Since I am developing these modules on my own (Not as a company), I cannot guarantee that I will support the modules forever. However, should I ever stop supporting them, I will most likely give the unencoded versions to those who have already purchased it.

The module will only show for customers on a cPanel server that have an "active" account.

We have purchased this addon and its perfect for what we wanted. We were getting a number of calls from user asking us to unblock their IP addresses, but these have all but gone since having the script installed.

We had a few issues on the installation at the start, but Frank was on hand within 10mins and got us through it very quickly - really recommend this to anyone as a great addon

Sorry, but im not buying any more encoded modules off these forums. I think there has been about a 60% rate of devs that have just taken the money and ran.No offense Frank, just wanted to give you some feedback. You do realize that by encoding it, you only hurt the honest people (dishonest people will just easily get it decoded). I personally bought the last one that a dev made that was junk. I probably just need to finish the one I started a couple years ago. =P

I'd be willing to sell an unencoded version, but the price is going to be much higher.

Uncoding costs 15 USD.

How much would it cost if someone would purchase it from developer.

You can add a licence in which you claim your copyright and IP. Anyone with normal business ethics and operation would not risk legal and operational issues for a few dollars.

As you stated you sells this not being a business, and provide code if you are going to stop. What will happen if you tomorrow get an accident? And have you coded this script at home in your own time, or at the place you work, because you may not be the owner of the code. (besides being the auteur)

As mentioned above dishonest people will always find a way around.

Another thing with Oracle owning MySQL soon they will effectuate the license agreement.

It is not allowed to used closed source PHP code with MySQL without purchasing a MySQL license.

Technical encoded is not closed source because it can be reversed engineered (without violating any law!)

But from Mysql license point of view it would be a violation.

Another thing I am wondering why it is using Cpanel ? If it was using CSF calls (port 7777 see perl code for more information) your scripts could be used in any and in mixed envirmonent in which CSF + WHMCS are used.

Just my opinion.

Sure, dishonest people will be dishonest.. But I can't control that. If you're honest, and want to buy it unencoded, its available. If your dishonest, go ahead and unencode it. I'm not really sure where you're trying to go with this. Are you saying that you'd just not bother buying an unencoded version, and be dishonest and unencode it yourself?

The software is still being sold under ASO, but I am directly supporting it. And I OWN the code, not my company.

If I die in an accident tomorrow, the source code will be given to those who purchased it.. What if WHMCS HQ was a target for a tactical nuclear assault and all the staff perished in the fallout? I guess you'd be out of luck there, too.

I have not heard anything about oracle putting further license restrictions on MySQL. Do you have a source for this, or are you just spreading FUD?

Its not using CSF calls, its using the cPanel API to communicate with the addon.

In the end, I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish by trashing on my addon. If you want such an addon unencoded but do not want to pay real money for it, code your own. No one is stopping you, and there is no need to troll here.

First of all I am not attacking you personally.

The general concept of obfuscating code (that is what ioncube does) and using it within opensource is besides unethical also violating a few licenses.

So infact using ioncubed files within LAMP environment without purchasing a MySQL license makes someone "dishonest" or not ?

And is dishonest when you violating a law, or only a ethical agreement with developer? In most countries de-obfuscating non BINARY is legal. And if it is a binary file, it is legal (in Europe at least) to refresh engineer it if vendor is not able/willing to fix an issue.

I request the coder to sell something without obfuscation, and to trust me that I will respect his license. (how many web hosting companies would help other companies for free by providing them software and scripts?)

At the other hand if someone makes an addition for something he himself got opensource and under a certain license. Would the addition if sold and closed source being dishonest? It is not contributing to the original project, which is the life source of any Opensource project.

Again I am not attacking you as person, in general there are more and more project that are closed sourced, but it is a development that is benefiting from other people FREE en OPEN contribution to the world.

As you stated you would be willing to sell it open sources, but it would be more expensive. And in response I answered sarcastic that there is no need for extra costs, because the closed source is costing you IONCUBE license.

The software is still being sold under ASO, but I am directly supporting it. And I OWN the code, not my company.

I didn't mention that you work somewhere. I only noticed that you have the ability to IONCUBE scripts and work somewhere. Legal ownership of code can only exist if someone made software in his own time on his own hardware, using software and licenses that he purchased legally himself.

If I die in an accident tomorrow, the source code will be given to those who purchased it.. What if WHMCS HQ was a target for a tactical nuclear assault and all the staff perished in the fallout? I guess you'd be out of luck there, too.

It would not take long before the code will be un encoded and on the internet, ass HQ is in Europe.

(nice discussion google om Hypervm to see how that worked out)

I have not heard anything about oracle putting further license restrictions on MySQL. Do you have a source for this, or are you just spreading FUD?

I would lose creditbility I was spreading FUD. Most people spreading FUD are paid for it by goverment or Anti-virus companies.

Besides this any company or thinking he is running a company should themselves be aware of any law or license that they might violate, to prevent it. I think there is no country that has not something like that in their constitution (in relation to companies and persons to be aware of laws and regulations and respect them).

To make an exception here are some sources (notice this is common information):

http://news.cnet.com/2100-7344_3-5173014.html

http://dev.mysql.com/legal/licensing/foss-exception.html

http://www.mysql.com/about/legal/licensing/foss-exception/

I am not a legal specialist. But somehow this discussion is kept secret.

We do not expect that Oracle will not be gentle as SUN has been.

Its not using CSF calls, its using the cPanel API to communicate with the addon.

Why should anyone pay something for a script that is obfuscated and entrust it with your on a complete network ? If you where a known company then there was a way to find the background. I am not sure if Matt has reviewed the code before offering it, but even then I would not trust it, there is no need to use CPANEL as cluster protocol within CSF can achieve the same.

This last alinea you may consider as "trashing" but it know and was based on facts. Which we (in the Netherlands) would see as a free consult.

I thank you for your time. But I do not think that I would consider this script even if it was opensourced and without payment. Reviewing would cost more time then creating similar ourself.

I see that you are somehow frustrated, but I did not ask you to create and offer something here, I didn't look for you as a person on the internet, I stumbled on something in member area what would be handy, and had the same question as someone before if it can be deleverid opensource. If you can not accept some detailed questions and suggestion you may be in the wrong business.

My point was, this thread is not the place to discuss the legality and/or moral obligations to encoded software. If you do not trust me, or the company I represent, thats fine.. But theres no need to drag out a debate within this thread regarding it. Please feel free to open another thread and do that. This thread is reserved for genuine questions and comments regarding the module in question.

EDIT: regarding the MySQL licensing.. The FOSS licensing is for software that includes the drivers within its package. We are not doing that. If I was selling the PHP interpreter by chance, than I would be applicable to FOSS.

Furthermore, I've been involved in open source for a long time, and consider myself well versed in how the process works.. Search my username on google and you'll find plenty of evidence to that.

  • 2 weeks later...

We've just discovered a bug in this application that causes it to not work with languages other than English. I plan on pushing out an update sometime before next weekend that will fix this, along with give the user a bit more flexibility on its display/formatting. (templated)

Everyone who currently has purchased this module will receive an email once the updated version has been released.

Does CSF have a DA plugin? I do not have any DA servers to test on, so I can't say for sure. If there is a CSF plugin for DA and someone wants to loan me a box for a little bit I might be able to work something out :)
