Unable to access admin area

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I am having issues with my admin area. The client area loads fine but the admin area loads forever and eventually times out or gives a 500 error. I had my sysadmin take a look and here is what he said:

Based on the Apache error log not showing anything, the 500 error you're encountered is likely caused by the site's code configuration. I see an error in the PHP error log:

[01-Jul-2017 05:56:21 America/Chicago] PHP Fatal error: Call to a member function connection() on null in /home/neaweb6/public_html/secure/vendor/illuminate/database/Eloquent/Model.php on line 3282

Everything was working fine when I went to bed, but this morning it was messing up. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Hi neaweb6,

Earlier today we experienced an issue with our licensing infrastructure which affected the ability for users to complete remote licence checks. The issue has been rectified as of 4PM GMT+1.

Only installations performing remote licence checks during the incident were impacted. Client area access is never impacted by licence-related errors.

Rest assured a full investigation will be carried out into this event. My apologies for the inconvenience caused.

I'm having a lot of issues getting into my admin interface (again) right now, are there issues with the license server?

WHMCS team, is there a possibility to use some caching/grace period in your licensing setup so in case of network issues at your end, my side of the panel doesn't break or timeout? this is the second time I have issues within a month now where we get stuck in setting up.

I just added my earlier hosts entry back and it works again.

This is not a very good start so far while we're setting up our new business

I was able to successfully force a license update!

Help >> License Information >> Force License Update

So I am going to go out on a limb and say the license server is running fine! If the License server does go down, your WHMCS wont stop working immediately! I do believe it is only checked every 7 days, unless a manual force update is done.

That's how it was set way back when a downed license server took everyone off line. Now, however, it checks all the time for active client count, so it needs to be able to compare that to license level on each check. No idea how frequently that's done or if they cache anything, but...I'd guess it's done a lot these days.

For us curious ones, can you address how often WHMCS does a license check? and with the new limits on clients, how often does the WHMCS installation call home to do a Active Client check?
