Free trial expiration email notifications?

Hello,

We are using WhMCS for a non-hosting related project and one of our products is a free trial that runs for several months. We would like to have our system notify the customer several times *before* the trial expires so they upgrade and then notify them if the trial has expired, perhaps eventually terminating/closing the account. I found an action hook but it's very old and the download link no longer works. https://www.whmcs.com/appstore/96/Complete-Free-Trials-Mod.html is the URL. Does anyone know of something similar that's available? I don't see a function built into WHMCS that would do something like this.

how about using the Email Marketer to send the emails ? you can use it to send an email to the client x days after order date, so you should be able to setup multiple schedules for your trial products.

Thanks Brian. That may do the trick. Do you happen to know if we can customize the text that is sent to the customer, using some built in system variables like #ClientName and so on so they get populated dynamically depending on who the client is?

yes - probably the best thing to do is to create a new product/service email template for this trial product, and then use that within the Email Marketer.

inside this template, you can use the available mergefields (listed at the bottom of the email template page), so you will be able to use... Dear {$client_name}, in the template and have the client name shown in their email.

also, if you have a test account within your WHMCS that you can use yourself, if you set yourself up with a trial product, you can send yourself test emails using this template from the products tab of your client profile in the admin area... then when you are satisfied with the output, you can schedule your emails to begin.
