WHMCS 4.2.1 and PHP 5.3.3 ?

basic

Recommended Posts

Hello All:

Does WHMCS 4.2.1 work under/with PHP 5.3.3 ?

A while ago, maybe two months ago, we tried to upgrade our server to PHP 5.3, and WHMCS stopped working. ... Or does this just require some settings change somewhere in a WHMCS file?

Also, anyone here who has Linux/cPanel servers has made other experiences upgrading to PHP 5.3.x? Are there many scripts around that stop working (e.g. the 50 or so scripts coming with Fantastico)?

Best,

John

I should mention that the REAL reason to wait updating to PHP 5.3.x is -- as I was just now reminded of -- that Zend does not yet have any "Zend Optimizer" support for PHP 5.3 available. That may or may not be okay with the WHMCS install, but many other scripts do require Zend Optimizer.

One thing we have noticed is that alot of software now has Ion and Zend encoded or have moved away from zend altogether.

and with this statement from them

"Please note this Loader will not load PHP 5.2 code encoded with previous version of Guard. All PHP files must be re-encoded must be encoded to run in PHP 5.3." we are more than a little worried.

we are actually encouraging our users to only use the Ion Cube encoded software.
