    Default CDG Commerce?

Seeing as it's a free payment gateway, does everyone use it? If not, why? I was asked a few questions in the chat support, and there doesn't really seem to be any hidden fees. I know there's the merchant account cost of $10 but it's still cheaper than everything else I've seen. Is there anyone else I should look at? Some times smaller companies have better rates etc. Tell me your thoughts.

We've been using CDGCommerce for years and switched about 6 months ago from Authnet to Quantum. No issues or problems. CDGCommerce is rock sold as far as I'm concerned.

Excellent. This is a little off topic, but what do you guys find is the most commonly used payment method? Paypal, or credit card? (or others)

I think you are going to find this will vary a lot depending on the hosting you provide.

Mostly shared hosting, I don't really have the time nor dedication to run VPS and dedicated servers.

CDG is great. I have met a few a of their staff members in person and they very nice and helpful people. Decent rates too.

All right, just found out CDG commerce isn't the way to go. They only accept US businesses. Even though the Canadian / UK market is huge, we're considered high risk. I mean sure, there's endless scams in india but there's hardly a difference here. English is first language etc. I think this is stupid and typical from an american thrived company.

So in my honest opinion, CDG commerce is a terrible company. 2CO is a million times better / cheaper (even though you don't get a merchant account).

CDG is not a "terrible" company just because they don't accept applications from outside of the US. Unfortunately it IS high risk for them work with companies that are not in the same legal system as them.

2CO is *NOT* cheaper in the long run, and like you say, you are not getting a merchant account.

I am sure though that there will be some recommendations for other companies if you just ask nicely.

2CO is a horrible company. I would never due business with them. Very shady and charge ridiculously high fees.

I dont think you understand how much risk a company like CDG is taking on when accept a merchant. They are 100% liable for all your transactions. That means that if you went under, they would be liable to visa or whoever to refund all of your clients.

The only mainstream quality merchant in the UK that i know of is ProTX. But they are a little more expensive.

Its funny how you want to say horrible things about a company just because their american, yet your the one that wanted to go with them in the beginning and are upset that you cant use them.

Well, their rates are a little more expensive but it's a one time fee compared to $10 a month + other fees. Really depends on how much revenue you're getting I suppose. Also, according to a chat with one of their operators, the high risk thing is somehow 9/11 related?

What are you talking about? Their (2CO) CC processing fees are almost triple that of CDG. Plus CDG came with a lot of extras for the $10. Including a maxmind account. Plus, you dont look like a cheapo company when you use CDG versus 2CO. Plus 2CO will actually try to regulate what you sell and require you to put a 2CO link all your pages.
