Is there a way to code a domain checker?

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

I'm thinking about setting up a php code using whmcs domain availability checker.

I access the page and enter a domain, this then checks the availability checker at preset intervals - then emails when the domain shows available.

There is a domain I've been watching for 5 years and I think its about to become available, according to nominet it should be ready to register on 30th however I've read that sometimes they release it early or late... It would be easier to have it checked automatically instead of me having a refresh page set up...

It would be even better to be able to allow a registration as soon as it is available - hopefully beating any other firms watching it :)

Must be a way to check :)

i don't know if you're aware, but there are already a couple of sites that you can use for capturing expiring .uk domains...

caught.co.uk

dnviper.co.uk

i've previously used both to capture domains for clients - if they don't get it, you don't pay.

I don't think whmcs would be ideal for this - there's a lot of work needed to make this work in the background, and for .uk domains they will be hammering the whois2 server constantly checking to see if the domain has been released.
