I use DA, will NEVER switch to CPanel, They have a good product, however, Direct Admin has a great product.

I have never heard of any company breaking a promise!
I got this notice too, however, once in bed with Cpanel, there is really NO need to support other panels.
Unlike some companies, when Cpanel acquires a company or technology they do so with no desire to promote other control panels.
This in NOT the first time I have seen a Cpanel partnership.

If you feel like it can't be believed then that's a business decision you need to make. You are in control of your own business.

Ask yourself; do you honestly think that WHMCS are going to drop support for all the other control panels out there despite them knowing it would be commercial suicide and completely alienate the majority of their existing customers?

Tell me where it states cPanel has acquired WHMCS. what the statement states is clearly

which to me means apart from access to shared expertise nothing will change in relation to othere control panels as their are many WHMCS users that uses DA, Plesk, Kloxo etc. so to stop supporting these would lose a lot of revenue.

thats all we can do is wait to see what happens as its early days, but my opinion is as stated i cant see them ditching other control panels as this will lose them revenue and more important reputation

Only 1 thing keeps nagging at me though and i can't really blame cPanel. They have a financial stake in WHMCS right now, they picked WHMCS rather than develop their own, which means - Why should we support other control panels. cPanel is who we are, cPanel is what we support.

A big move with Matt staying very hushed about it. Good for him, it's a proud moment in his own personal life to create a product that someone like cPanel would want to invest. The fact cPanel gets a piece of the pie means they are decision makers as well. cPanel isn't your flyby night control panel either, they are industry leader and they don't play games.

I do see WHMCS supporting others for now but the little birdie on my shoulder says it'll soon phase out others in time to directly integrate within cPanel which will be hard to support other panels.

Like easyhosting said, wait and see what happens, but my money is on others eventually being phased out depending how much of cPanel has invested in to WHMCS.

this is also a possibility, another possibility is WHMCS being split in 2 with a major version fully integrated into cPanel and a lesser version available for other control panels.

but all assumptions so its just a waiting game

I love some of the ignorant and somewhat hostile replies above.
The thing about CHANGE, is nothing ever seems to stay the same!
I never expected WHMCS to drop support for Direct Admin or any other control panels. They are somewhat obligated to support these to some degree for the term of the existing contracts.
I am more concerned with features that work only in Cpanel and NOT in others. As the script is encrypted, we are at a disadvantage if we want or need features left out in favour of their partners product.

This is the only concern i have. it will see more 3rd party addons etc. appearing from new members taking advantage of the situation

with such a request we wont get left in the dust because we will be able to code our own interfaces and tight integrations with panels like Directadmin or others which have great API's

now the question is how many people get on board to support a full blown user access level API request and how long if at all it will take WHMCS to implement such a thing.
