PayPal Website Payments Pro (US) feature request

Great job on the new features and fixes Matt! WHMCS is getting better all the time!

As told in another thread we need to add this as a feature request. We have been anxiously awaiting the implementation of Pay Pal's Website Payments pro (US) and would like to request this feature added to WHMCS in a future release as a payment processor.

What do others fellow WHMCS users think?

I'd like to see it, but you can't do subscriptions with PayPal Pro. They require the CCV number for all transactions.

Not having the ability for subscriptions is a downfall, but neither do several other payment processors already integrated into WHMCS.

Well you can do PayPal subscriptions, but not from a credit card. But to accept credit cards via on our site plus handle credit cards in person and then important them into PayPal I think is still sweet.

Ah, thanks for the heads up. I now would never consider them. They would only be a good choice for regular e-commerce sites then.

It's still one of the cheapest ways to accept credit cards directly on your site that I have found Customers will just need to pay invoices when they are due when using it for a payment gateway. And yes it does work great for regular shopping carts Best of all is no chargeback fees

its not even close to one of the cheapest merchants around. Have you ever checked out CDG?

I thought they had chargeback fees? I do remember considering them awhile back. I will look them over again. I already have Website payments pro though.

its a scam for processors to charge different apr on card types.. ie rewards/business cards.. that is to be absorbed by the card issuer

and I can only assume that people in our line of work get a lot of business/reward type cards

LOL, how is that up to you to day that they have to absorb that cost? They also have regular plans with higher monthly fees so you get cheaper percentage rates. Just like authorize.net.

I am at 1.9%-2.1% always but what I see from them

2.25% + $0.30 (plus all the unknows as below)

Non-Qualified Visa/MC Surcharge -
Rewards/International/Corporate Cards 1.50% + $0.10

Amex/Discover/JCB Per Transaction Fee* $0.30
Address Verification Service (AVS)
Proprietary Settlement-Level Fraud Scrubbing $0.05

Heck even if I was at the highest rate for pp pro 2.9+.30 I can see myself saving anything.. unless i was to only do just a few transactions a month (those add on fees will eat up the $10-20 monthly difference.. I would like to see someones bill to get a better idea of the real breakdowns.. ie customer service fee like most processors use(which to me is a joke)

Does it come with a free maxmind account? How about surcharges for Credit Cards used outside the US?

Paypal has plenty of fees as well, you probably just dont know about all of them. Another benefit to CDG is the fact that more scripts support them than PP Pro by far.

Anyway, i have no benefit for convincing you to switch, so im not going to argue with you any longer. Maybe PP Pro is what works best for your business, but for others, maybe not. I just think a lot of people really dont compare the right information or have all the facts when making merchant decisions.

No setup
The monthly fee is $20-30(virtual terminal fee) depending on your grandfather.. compared to $10minimum I see with CDG .. which doesn't list any customer service or other typical processor charges (PayPal has none)

Trust me I know about fee's.. as a business owner.. this is very important as I process up to $100,000 in a given month.. So I often have processors try and tell me of all the savings they can provide me.. but I have never seen one that actually saves me anything.. but Like I said, I don't just process a few transactions a month. This is why i am asking about billing and hidden fee's.. and processors don't tell you up front about these.. and the only way to know about a hidden fee is to ask someone who does use them

You really think CDG has more scripts that paypal pro? I highly doubt that. I am in highly with the ecommerce market.. and have never heard of these people.. and with EVERY platform (except whmcs) both paypal and paypal pro have been widely available (ahh no wonder.. they are not a processor at all, but an authorize.net reseller)

Yes, I agree.. and if you think this is arguing, then we wouldn't do well discussing much of anything.. I do however think before you put down or reject a processor, getting information from users is the ultimate reasoning.. which apparently you are not willing to do.. but I do thank you for taking the time for NOT answering any questions I may have about a new processor.. If there was a processor that can save me money.. I truly want to know about them.. but I also don't want a processor who holds my money until they decide I should have full access to it

But to top off the real savings.. The 1% cash back on the debit card, and the 5%+ from the money market (they pay me to use my money) Then suddenly.. we are not talking about about the same savings.. we are now talking about NO FEE's and in some months, it actually paying me to use them as a processor.. something I have not seen from other processors at all.. they hold your money with no options to be paid for them 'borrowing it' or give you quick access to it.. within seconds
