    Default Automated upgrade.

Is there any plans for automated upgrades?...

E.g. when upgrade available can just click a button in WHMCS and it automatically downloads new files and installs.

Only problem with this is many, if not most, installations have custom files to consider that might just be overwritten.

What would this software do to protect you against breaking your mods and template changes?

Well it would be pretty simple to add protection for this i would have thought...

For example you could have it to simple just upgrade normal (non template) files and then just provide notifications/to-do items for the TPLs which need to be modified.

It's not only the template files that many of us have modified, there are also other files like additionaldomainfields.php, whoisservers.php etc...

How hard is it to FTP those files to your site?

It would sure be handy to have.

Especially for us with reseller licenses who, for example, can't access the Client Area to get the patch released today.

Fortunately, in my case, my host got the patch for me. But what if had been on a cruise to the Mediterranean?

phpBB forums already uses a similar feature where it compares files and performs automated merges....and we should know, we just done an upgrade on our own forums

It works quite well, so I would imagine a similar feature "could" be implemented into WHMCS, as most of the custom configs are template based customisations anyway (with the exclusion of a few modules etc)

It may be possible, it may not...only Matt could advise on that one

Hmm, this really isn't needed, rather have Matt spend time on adding more needed features such as overusage billing

I think that the fact that he already has a big red notice in the admin panel is enough really...
