Default multiple email fileds for each one department

    Hi,

As I know, right now WHMCS can only pipe one email for one department.. so for example.. let's say I defined "Sales/Billing Department" and entered [email protected].. and now setup pipe.. so when you send email to [email protected].. it will open ticket... but what about [email protected].. it won't because can set only one email address for each department...

it will be nice if we can setup multiple email address for each departments...for better piping..

What do you think you guys?

    thanks

You can setup multiple departments and assign multiple departments to one user... for example, your employee Susie handles sales and billing, you can setup a sales department for the sales@ address and a billing department for the billing@ address, then assign both sales and billing to Susie.

ROFL, you dont know what your doing do you? Setup a forward in cpanel for [email protected] to fwd to [email protected]. There are all kinds of different ways to do it, but its not a whmcs issue or needed feature.

Just that it does not seem to work.

I forward [email protected] to whmcs pipe and that works fine.
But if I forward [email protected] to [email protected] it does not work.

Where are you creating the forward?? if in CPanel, can you see the 2 forwards in the CPanel forwards list?

I would expect to see the following:
    [email protected] [email protected]
    [email protected] | php -q /home/username/public_html/pipe/pipe.php

No, I don't think this one will be added for reasons which you won't be aware of. However, there shouldn't be any problem in having a department for Sales and a department for Billing. All it does is give your users one extra department choice.

but it is really nice feature for small hosting providers because there will be few staffs and maybe one or two will take care for accountings... so if it is possible to merge few departments to one, it is nice to manage it..

also if one dep. has couple email address..? and they need to be pipe?

are you able to do like email, email, email, setting?

    thanks

Why does it make it easier to manage? The number of departments and admins you have does not make any difference. 1 admin can be assigned to many support departments and could handle and respond to emails to any of the support departments. 1 department should only have one email address.

The forward of course works as expected, but WHMCS is configured to create a ticket when it gets an email sent to [email protected], if it's sent to [email protected] nothing happens.

In fact my problem is a bit different. I have .fi, .com and .net domains for my company. I am using email domain forwarding from .com & .fi addresses to .net addresses. I was hoping that a customer could send an email to [email protected] or [email protected] or [email protected] and WHMCS would create a ticket in "support" department.

Ok, so what you are saying is that even though it forwards it to the other address, the To address is still set at the original domain? If that's the case, all you need to do is setup one sales department using your main address "[email protected]" and then set up two more "hidden" support departments with the other two addresses. All three could be called "Sales" and only one would on the submit ticket page if two of them are set to hidden and it should then allow the import to occur.

    Yes, it seems so.

    Yes I will try that.

What is bothering me is that if I forward emails as I was doing the emails with the "wrong" To address completely disappear

You can see the text of those messages in the import log in Utilties > Ticket Mail Import Log. The error next to any messages that failed for this reason should be "Department Not Found".
