Default Add "total profit" in Income Summary

Currently the total income and estimated income is listed on the home page under "Income Summary".

However, this can give a wrong reading in certain cases. For example, if someone offers a product for which there are also expenses (amount out), then it will not take those into account but just show the amount in.

I would like to see a listing of the total profit, which would also take into account the expenses as well as the income ("amount in" minus "amount out").

    Any thoughts about this?

In response to this forum post and the post located at http://www.whmcs.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1151

This is a fairly difficult request but I'm looking at the possible ways in which it could be achieved. With a product cost box added to the product setup page, then should this value of the product cost be entered in the amount out field along with any payments received in for that product/service or should it just be used on reports?

The product cost box sounds like a good idea yes.

But I would like to see the "total profit" also, like there is the income summary on the left hand side now.

    Can this be achieved?

The income summary shows total income. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by total profit or how it could be calculated without the product costs being entered?

You should probably call it Gross Revenue.

I hadn't read this post until just now.

You cannot setup a total profit in WHMCS, especially not automated, because you have to take in to account cost of sales and expenses.

As MACscr said I'm going to work on a few ideas on Wednesday to see if I can create some ledgers where it will pull sales of services/products and you can add expenses. This makes it easier when it comes around to working out your taxes but the more important bit is you can easily pull the figures on a profit and loss account (income statement) and balance sheet.

If your not sure on what ledgers are, it's basically like a mini bank account but on paper. You have an account for certain expenses, debtors, creditors, sales, assets etc. The bigger companies have them for individual stock.

As I said, I'll see what I can come up with and at the same time see what some of WHMCS' competitors are doing and how (if they do at all) they layout the accounting side of their scripts. I'm not looking to turn this in to one big accounting script that gives you all your statements as that's not what this is designed for. Plus, it takes all the fun out of making your end of year/month accounts :P

Any idea whether this "product cost box" will be implemented in the upcoming new version?

    Hi ScarabWeb,

This will not be in the V3 release. Too many difficulties with this one.

    Hi Matt,

Do you think it might be added for any future versions?
