View Full Version : Email Out Invoices

I would like to request that a revision be made that includes the option of sending out the actual Invoices, (not an email asking the customers to log into a system to actually get them) in the body of an email or attachment.

Modernbill does this simple task easily so why doesn't WHMCS do it?

I think it would be great to have a link/image that you can click to pay the invoice directly from the email, if that is what you're asking.

Please add polls to all features requests as we do not need everyone posting just to say yes or no to them wanting it. It makes it a lot easier on Matt and everyone else.

FYI ... you guys probably already are aware of this. PayPal has an add-in object for Microsoft OutLook that allows a Pay Now button to be added to an email. You config that instance of the button for the amount.

I've used it on other things and It works good. Maybe something like this to add into WHMCS might be useful... what do you fellas think?

why would it need to be outlook specific? Its as simple as creating a link or button to the payment form.

I do think that a paynow button should only bring them to the whmcs client area though as payment links should be gateway independent. Most (not all) people that pay with paypal on a recurring basis will have a paypal account.

It doesn't have to be Outlook specific. Just that it was available now.

My point was that i think it's silly that the client has to fetch his/her own invoice by wasting his/her time logging onto a system to get it. Most customers would love to find ways to avoid paying their bills if they could and forcing them to actually go to extra effort just to even get the bill is beyond ridiculous to me. Then there is the matter of paying it!

Invoices should be sent embedded in the email, not a link telling the customer to log into a system to get it first. The current method really isn't ideal.

Wow. Didn't realize this wasn't already done. In all the testing we've done, the invoices are there in full via email. However, I think this is referring to future invoices (like the recurring ones).

Definitely would like to see this added.

No michelle, this happens for all the invoices. I presume Greg must want it sending in PDF format.

No, I think he means that he wants the email to include a direct link to pay, instead of having to login to WHMCS, find the right invoice, and then clicking pay there.

Its the actual invoice itself i would like to see in the email. I have a client that by company policy does not have access to the internet so that have no way of accessing the client area to retrieve the bill.

Currently all my clients receive an email (automatic recurring billing) asking them to log into the client area to see the bill and pay it. In other words unless they log into the client area thet cannot see the bill to pay! And they pay Direct Deposit.

So my request it for recurring invoices, have the actual invoice itself either embedded in the email or attached as a .pdf (or whatever) so the client doesnt have to try and retrieve a paper copy of it from the client area that they cannot access in the first place.

Matt, none of my recurring Invoices include the invoices embedded in the email. NONE at all. Why is this? It's all just this :

Dear (removed),

This is a notice that an invoice has been generated on 25/08/2006.

Your payment method is: Bank Transfer

Invoice #3
Amount Due: $19.95
Due Date: 01/09/2006

Invoice Items

Platinum Hosting Plan Package - (removed).com (01/09/2006 - 01/10/2006) $19.95
------------------------------------------------------
Total: $19.95
------------------------------------------------------

You can login to your client area to view and pay the invoice at http://www.gdwebhosting.com.au/whmcs/viewinvoice.php?id=3

Regards,

GD Webhosting

The above is no good. I would like to have the invoice in the email, not a request for a customer to go get it themselves to view! Thats not good customer service either!

There are the invoice items in the email which is what I and michelle were referring to. Your feature request has been noted.

Just to chip in to let know that I'd like that too.

I'm my current system (phpCoin) there's a text area where you can write the terms of the invoice and that is made part of the email sent to the client, and it's also copied to the next recurring invoice, so it doesn't have to be added over and over again.

I don't know if that would be possible but certainly it would be a nice feature to have.

Terms per client? Or per type of product or what? You can edit the invoice or email templates to say whatever you want.

Terms per client. It's an area where you can write instructions for payment, things like that. I use it to give printing instructions to my clients and give them their especific link to issue their bill.

MACscr

but the link is already included to get the their "bill", and printing instructions would not be unique to a client.

Patty

It's included the link to get the invoice in WHMCS. I need to include individual links to my clients so they can issue their own "bill", which I had already generated on my bank system and placed on the server for them to download. Each client has one link and that link changes every month as a new bill is generated on the bank system.

This is a brazilian payment system called "boleto", where the client needs to print a barcoded bill and pay at any bank or internet banking.
