This should be an easy one...

Please allow dashes "-" in the postal code. All Japanese postal codes contain a dash. i.e. 945-1203

That's all.

It won't kill them to enter it without a dash right?

A quick fix would be to just put an example near that form entry and also state that only numbers can be used. Just an idea.

No, it wouldn't kill them. That's not really the point, is it?

Japanese postal codes have a dash. Our Japanese customers will be expecting to enter a dash.
