Hi;

I am a WHMCS customer and I am really happy with it. I am doing hosting as a second job. I cannot be online all the time. Do you think its possoble to make WHMCS to send sms (text messege) when a submit ticket created?

That would be a great feature.

What do you think?

That's a difficult one. You can't just send SMS messages from a PHP program, it would need some sort of integration with an SMS server provider, who you would need to pay a subscription fee to - it would most likely only work to certain countries but it is possible. For the moment at least, you would need to integrate this yourself using your own code in the submitticket.tpl template file.

Regards,

Matt

I'm not sure about your provider, but a lot of cell phone and devices come with an email address associated to it. Could you set the system up to send the email to that address? Or possibly a mailing list address that sends it to both the SMS device and the email address that it would normally go to? Not sure if this would work for you or not, but it's worth a try if it's possible. :)

Good point there Chris. You could setup an admin account using that email address if you phone provider supports it.

Thanks Chris I didn't think that as a solution, that will work for me. :D

Yes, template files are editable and parse alongside the encoded pages, so you can add your own PHP code to them and it will execute fine.

Wow... Simply... Wow... This adds a whole new meaning to V2.5, it's going to be the best... The best ever...

You could do it in 2.4, too ;)

I was able to run some other scripts with v2.4 too. ex. random headers.

Yeah, we set up google analytics for traffic analysis in the footer file. We did this at the bottom of template.tpl when I was just starting with 2.4, but we chose to upgrade to 2.5 quickly.

Every major mobile provider will do the sms transfer for you. You email address is usuall yourphonenumber @ carrier-soemthing.com. With Verizon, it would be 5555555555 @ vtext.com.

Also, if you are a US federal employee, or military, the providers are required by law to give you a discount on your service.

By editing the .tpl template file, your SMS code would only be executed when you submit a support request through a web browser, not via inbound email? Is this correct?

Is there a way around this to execute code even when inbound support EMAILS come in?

Like has been discussed here, to send an SMS you should just need to send an email to a certain email address. Therefore if you setup an admin account with the email address required to do this then when email notifications get sent to it you should get an SMS with it.

For the people that live in Norway and have Telenor you can create a free email address at Telenor and set whmcs to send a email to that address and you will then get a sms on your mobile. The best part is that it is FREE :)
You can set it to send a sms when you recive by a email address or subject.
