I know i probably looked around a little more and found my answer, but do packages have to exist in WHM, or can WHMCS create the WHM packages when WHMCS creates the account? I think i might have seen the answer in another post. I do have root to the servers.

The packages has to exist in the WHM.

I just found this link after reading your reply. Does this not still apply?

Also, if you own a dedicated server, there is no need to create your packages in WHM at all. Creating them just in WHMCS will work fine and there will be no need to set them up in WHM aswell - on a reseller account you may need to if your host has set "Disallow creation of accounts with packages that are not global or owned by this user" but most hosts will probably disable this if asked and then it is the same for resellers.

It was posted here.

If you already have WHMCS installed MACscr, why don't you just run a test order to find out?

I actually didnt have it installed at that time, at least not on a server i was going to use it on. I will do some testing and report back.

Just to clarify, as I said in that post quoted above, you do not need the packages created in WHM if you have root access or if your reseller account has permission to create accounts that are "not global or not owned by this user"

But does it creat a WHM package though or does it just create the account with the specified attributes? I would definately need the packages created.

No, it doesn't create the packages in WHM, only the account using the package specified. You would need to create the actual package yourself if you require that.

Hi Matt,

if I upgrade my packages in whmcs what will happen to the account already created will the cron update them too for example if am using a starter plan with 1Gb diskspace and wanted to upgrade it to be 2GB i know fi i create new accounts they will get those 2GB but will the existing accounts created be updated too, I assume the cron when it runs will do that? and will it be upgraded on all servers which use this plan?

thx

no, existing accounts will not be upgraded in whm if you updated them in whmcs.

Upgrades to packages should be made in WHM. Making them in WHMCS will not affect existing accounts.
