Interesting, seems 2CO now allows you pay with PayPal at their checkout interface.

I think that's funny as hell...

That is bizarre - why would one payment processor allow you to pay with another? I wonder what the fees are on this, and if they'd take the 2CO ones off you, then PayPal take theirs too?

What you mean like why would paypal let you pay with a credit card ;)

I think you'll be seeing a lot more cross-method payment services, and some serious consolidation between providers over the next couple of years - it'll simply separate out into 3 types, and a max of 3 surviving providers for each ...
merchant-account processing
bureaux-account processing
virtual-cash processsing

with each being able to take all kinds of payments, but the fees being different.

That's different, completely, and that's not a payment processor allowing you to play with another, that is a payment processor integrating more options. Paypal has (IIRC) always had CC options, they're just making it (now) so that you don't have to be logged in if you don't want to.

What the individual is referring to here is a payment processor which processes only credit cards, and has only done so for years, allowing individuals to select a paypal payment method. This is an interesting turn for 2co, though using them is still very bad.

PayPal is apparently going to be added to the WorldPay payment pages too shortly...

That does it, let's all add paypal payment pages ;)

Seriously though, that just solidifies the fact that paypal is pretty much the biggest processor for online payments. 2co adding them was good, but worldpay, wow!

Eventually, everyone will want to have paypal integrated in some fashion. Gotta wonder how they plan to handle NON paypal customers though, and if they put that payout delay THERE too.

They're the largest in terms of "virtual-cash", but tiny in terms of overall transaction processing - although thats grown significantly since the ebay connection.

I joined PayPal because back at the time when I freelanced clients would pay me by those means. PayPal is popular because it's easy to use. I like the fact that you aren't charged a currency conversion rate.
