I would like to see an option to make an addon that has different billing periods show up as a dropdown box the same as the actual hosting account dropdown.

ie:

1 Dedicated IP Address $1 - 1 Month
1 Dedicated IP Address $3 - 3 Month
1 Dedicated IP Address $6 - 6 Month
1 Dedicated IP Address $12 - 12 Month

is a bit redundant.

The amount changes.

E.g. if the user selected to pay Monthly, the payment might be $1. However, if they change the period to 12 months the value of the addon changes to $12

What Sean is describing is Configurable Options. Take a look at these, as this may offer what you are looking for. With Configurable Options, instead of being seperate, the cost of the addon is calculated along with the hosting package - for example, you add a dedicated IP that costs $2/month as a configurable option. If the user pays for the hosting package monthly, they pay for their IP address at $2/month. However, if they pay annually, they would be charged $24/annually. Hope that makes sense.

Yes this helps, it would be nice if it were possible to set a one time fee. Some configurable options require a setup fee. Is this already possible?

Thanks Sean & Matt,

Hi,

No, this is not possible. It has been discussed before and the outcome was that configurable options should not have setup fees, addons should be used if this is required.

Ok, I really like how configurable options have the dropdown box that changes the price with the term of the package. If the topic comes up again, I'll toss my 2 cents in for having the setup fee available for configurable options, or addons being able to have the same autocalculation as the configurable options. For now I can build my setup cost into the monthly price.

And here we go again :) Setup fee's. I was the one who created the first topic, and I still think that it is a good idea.

How can I put this in simple terms... Hmmm.. I've got it!!

When a user orders reseller hosting from us; we have a billing software ordering option where they can pick (if any) which billing software they want to use and to be installed.

Say they pick WHMCS, and I charge for example, $9.99/month. BUT it comes with installation, which is $10. Well that $10 is not per month, it's a one off payment, it's a "Setup Fee" for the software, and it's also not optional, they HAVE to have it.

Thats my example; I have many more :)
