Just wondering if there are any plans in v2.5 for an online live chat system, for sales and support. I think this is much needed and would make an excellent new addition to the WHMCS system.

v2.4 will already work with StarDevelop Live Chat.
http://www.stardevelop.com/index.htm
All you need to do is just input the URL to the live chat somehwere, forgot where though.

I'm talking about WHMCS's own live chat system. If you want to use star develope, you'll have to buy it as well.

Hey,
Thats alot of work. I mean you will need a Windows programer to code a WinApp client for live support which will update when some one vists your website. Not to say real live chat. I use a WinApp client for my support desk and I get a little sound and box on the right hand side of my screen thats says a new ticket is on. For Live support it's more or less the same thing, I get real time people on my site and when they need help I get a ohone calling sound a nd a window that pops up asking if I want to take the call or not.
I mean, that take alot of time and you have to know just more then PHP.

As Adam says, a live chat application is a lot of work - and very difficult to get to work well. Even the "good" chat systems like Kayako LiveResponse, StarDevelop LiveHelp and others suffer from dropped chats, lost messages, hanging, etc... I think that buying a live chat system from a company focusing purely on a live chat app will always be preferable than a live chat app integrated into WHMCS - most companies already have a live chat system in place - however, I don't want to rule it out. It could be implemented at some point in the future if demand is there.

Thanks Matt,
What program are you using, Adam?
Kyle
I believe he is using PHPLiveSupport. There were rumours they were going out of business a while back. Their website is http://www.phplivesupport.com/
Matt
Hey,
Yes as Matt said I do use PHPLiveSupport. I like it, I tried others like WHMCS StarDevelop and others, but I guess since I used PHPLiveSupport first thats I kinda like that better. I would use Kayako's live support which will go with my help desk but their is a few common featuers they lack, like chatting with out an WinApp client, after 2 min on hold it finally ask them to send a ticket. I mean it's greate.
The only thing with PHPLive's Winapp thing, is that it kinda uses Internet Explore, it more or less puts it in an iFrame of the program, which I don't care.

Why do you have to go through the trouble of making a win app for the support staff to communicate with the clients? Why not go further and make it easier and universal by making the area for support staff online and java based along with the client part? I'd love to have this implemented in WHMCS too... :)

Stick to addons
i agree with Matt that its costly and even the best have problems. BUT, if they develop addons to allow integration then i think thats the best route. the system is add on based. why not use it like that? no wasted money buying software that goes under and blah blah blah.
Keep up the AMAZING work Matt and everyone else ... although i have never ehard from anyone else and kind of think its just Matt battling in all this LOL.

Interesting idea which I'm sure would be a HUGE undertaking.
