Hi Guys!

I have a quick question for anyone that may know, regarding the accounting function in WHMCS.

I understand that "Amount In" is a debit, wheras "Amount Out" is a credit.
I also know that WHMCS automatically enters this information from Paypal.

However, if I look at the transactions for any given client, I notice that the Amount In, and the Fee's field have been populated, however the Amount Out, still says 0.00.

This client is setup on a subscription, and has been paying faithfully.
So, after awhile, the client has a balance of several hundred dollars.

Is there something I'm missing here, or something I have failed to setup?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Regards,
Adam

The transactions system in WHMCS is not a register balance. It should not be equal to zero. The value shown should be the total amount of money received from the customer. On payments from the customer, the amount in and fees fields should be filled out, and on expenditures such as purchasing domains for the user then a value should be entered in the amount out field. The net result is the total profit from that customer.

Okay,

How could this customer still show a balance then...

Well why not? That's the total profit you have from the customer: $54.13. As I said, it's not a register balance system - it should not equal zero.

OK, I understand.

To me, balance means "Something that is left over; a remainder."

So, I was taking this as the amount due.
This must mean something different in the UK.

Thanks!

Ah ok, maybe. In the UK, the balance is defined as:

"the difference between the totals of the credit and debit sides of an account"

So therefore, the balance is the amount in minus the amount out (same as with a bank account).

I'm a bit lost...

So if you want to give your customer credit, then you would put this in which field?

You cannot give your customers any credit. The transactions system is not a register balance. I am considering adding a register balance system to V2.5.
