auto forum creation

Some scripts out there have the very cool ability to add an account to a forum. Any chance we could get this option?

It seems to me, request like this would be better served, by having the system call an optional php (or cgi) script run, with the account information passed as post (or get) variables so we can do our own post processing..

I agree with Chainsaw. There are plenty of scripts around that do this now with other apps. I would think it would not be that difficult to alter one that talks with WHMCS and phpBB or which ever forums you want. I prefer SMF myself. If Matt hard codes it. Then you wouldn't be able to select which forums to use.

Then maybe Matt could just provide the hooks that are needed if any.

Roger: at least provide names + links to the scripts that do this.
This way Matt (and us) will know where to look and how to integrate. If you save Matt 10-15 minutes of searching (or possibly more) it will be extra time that he can work on the new version to ensure all new features are added and tested.

Keeping in mind that I commented on scripts that merely allow one to login to a portal and simultaneously apply the login to a forum. Not WHMCS specific of course.

The first that comes to mind is a Mambo/Joomla bridge to Simple Machine Forums:

mxBB is good. It wraps a portal around phpBB without altering phpBB.

IntegraMOD or IM-Portal are both very good but both alter core phpBB files. IntegraMOD is a full CMS while IM-Portal is only a portal.

There is another app that has "Bridge" files for phpBB. I just can't think of the name right now.... sucks getting old.. :?

I have personally used all the above at one time or another. They would all be good to glean ideas from on marrying an application (WHMCS) and a set of forums login functions.

There's a lot of stuff there to wade through... :shock:

Most of it is phpBB. I personally, really do prefer SMF. I've worked a lot with phpBB over the years. SMF is a cleaner, faster and much easier to administer. Hoping I don't stick my foot in my mouth here but it's more secure as well.

Another app sticks in my mind that handles multiple types of forums. If I can recall it. I'll track it down and see if it would be helpful.
