PayPal vs PayPal Invoices

Can someone help me understand what the difference between the Payment Gateways PayPal and PayPal Invoices is.

Paypal gateway is for the subscription service which will automatically make payment with there Paypal account.

Paypal Invoices gateway is just as it sounds i think. Your customer will get an invoice for a payment to be made with Paypal. This is not automatic so the customer must execute the payment on there own.

I think this is how it works but i could be wrong. I use the Paypal gateway but you can use both if you want.
