doctype?

Having a great time integrating the system into my site, but I had to use a lot od css hacks. I then notices that the system deosnt generate a doctype at the beginning of its pages.

Is it alright to add a doctype or will I somehow be creating problems for myself?

I added a doctype to mine without any problems at all.
