View Full Version : Billing Cycles for Addons

I use a lot of option Addons for hosting plans. The fact addons have only one billing cycle means I have to create one set of products and a matching set of addons for each billing cycle I want to use.

I would be really nice to have multiple possible billing cycles for addons and have that adjust automatically on the order form based on the billing cycle selected for the hosting product.

ModernBill does this badly (it has multiple cycles, but only ever shows the monthly price until you get to the invoice total) but the new beta of ClientExec does it well, auto-adjusting as I have described.

With WHMCS if I have three core hosting products with 5 addon options and I use four billing cycles it means I have to create 4 Hosting categories (one for each billing cycle), 12 hosting products and 20 addons instead of one category, 3 products and 5 addons.

It's a little tedious, and presents a little strangely to the customer who has to select a hosting category based on billing cycle.

Thanks God some else has the same problem as I do. :)

From I stand, this is a very good request.

Hi teakwood,

Take a look at product configuration options in the product setup page and see if this does what you require.

Matt

Damn, Matt, that almost does it.

Now I just need to re-think my pricing strategy. I had my add-ons priced with an increasing discount as the billing cycle became longer, same as for the hosting packages - I want to encourage people to take the longer sign-up.

It does the job very well apart from the linear pricing, and the cosmetics (the description for multiple config options needs to be similar length, or the drop-downs look skewed, and I only ever have 1 choice for each type of option pack, so the add-on's check-box is more attractive).

So I'd say my first description should stand as a feature request, but with lower priority because this might be an adequate workaround. 8)

Matt,

Another slight problem with the options v addons is the lack of detail on the initial (and recurring) invoice - it lists only the package, not the options (it does have the all-inclusive price).

Any change of detailing the options on the invoice each time?

Matt, any thought of changes in this area?
